VINYASA FLOW

A dynamic, physical style of yoga, which links movement with breath and awareness. Although there is plenty of opportunity to build strength, stamina and physical fitness in these classes there is an equal focus on quieting the mind, breathing and working to the most appropriate level for your own wellbeing on any given day. This creates a well-rounded yoga practice that encourages strength, flexibility, a healthy mind body and spirit.

RESTORE

This is a slower paced class than the vinyasa flow, although 100% beginner friendly it offers a lot for the more experienced. Think gentle movement combined with more restful postures.

A Restore class is an hour-long blissful session of gently creating space from the inside of the body whilst letting go of all the rush, busyness and tension in our lives. Each class ends with a short-guided meditation.

THE YOGA CLUB FAQ

Q. I've never done yoga before, is this for me?
A. We love beginners!
  1. There are plenty of classes online that are beginner appropriate including all the restore classes and a good selection of the Vinyasa, My style is slow and thorough so if you have a reasonable level of fitness most of the online classes will accessible for you.
  2. Beginner workshops are regularly held; please contact us to see the dates for the next event.
Q. What props do I need?
A mat.... definitely! Other props you could look at to set yourself up for a great practice are two blocks, a strap and a bolster. In saying that, other than the mat, there are everyday household items you can use instead such as big thick books for blocks (as long as they sturdy and the same height), a tie or towel as a strap and pillows as a bolster.

Q. What yoga mat do you recommend?
A. We recommend the kiwi business www.ecoyogastore.com for props and mats. The mats I use are the Manduka Eko and are awesome. A little cheaper and just as good are the Lululemon mats which you can get in store in Christchurch or online. You'll never regret setting yourself up well, and the cost is minimal as that is all you really need.

Q. What do I wear?
A. Wear comfortable clothing that isn’t too baggy. The kind of ‘work out’ gear you would wear to the gym or going out for a walk.

Q. Is there anything else I should do to prepare for class?
A. Try not to eat anything too heavy a few hours before you practice, have water close by and have some before you start to stay hydrated.

Q. I have more questions, who can I ask?
A. We pride ourselves on being approachable, please feel free to ask us about anything yoga and we will do our very best to help you out with the answers.
